Operations are responsible for the global platform that supports Standard Life Aberdeen’s investment process. The services provided by the team are a combination of support services, such as systems administration and data management together with management of enhancements to the operational platform, to support investment process improvements and new business developments.

The Performance Measurement team is an integral part of Operations within Standard Life Aberdeen and provides performance, attribution, ex-post risk and GIPS analytics to many parts of the business and to our clients.

Role Purpose

We are looking for Performance Analysts to support in two areas of the Performance Measurement team – Real Estate and Life Companies & Board Reporting, GIPS and Oversight on a 12 month fixed term basis.

The key focus of these roles are to support all internal business areas of Standard Life Aberdeen and external clients and consultants through the provision of comprehensive, accurate, timely, and relevant fund performance analysis.

As a member of the Performance Measurement Team you will:

  • Generate performance, attribution, ex-post risk and GIPS analytics on both a regular and ad-hoc basis for various asset classes.Produce performance and attribution reports utilising various software packages
  • Undertake bespoke analysis to assist Fund Managers, Sales and Marketing, Client Relations

Role in Real Estate & Life Companies Team will also:

  • Generate performance for Real Estate funds both using internal systems and liaising with external providers
  • Produce regular performance reporting for large Life company clients and supporting the client governance team

Role in Board Reporting, GIPS and Oversight Team will also:

  • Assist in the creation of the Board performance pack and other related tasks
  • Maintain the firm’s Global Investment Performance Standards (GIPS) track records and assist in the verification process
  • Liaise with Third Party Administrators to ensure high quality of outsourced performance tasks.

Role specific skills

  • A high level of engagement with the front office is required to discuss performance returns and attribution. Additionally, performance consultancy with the front office is required to represent the Global Performance Team’s capabilities and recommendations when new funds or products are launched.
  • A broad knowledge of various asset classes including equity, fixed income and real estate.
  • The ability to update and adjust models within FactSet would also be beneficial.
  • A strong focus on value add processes is required - whether this is as part of company-wide projects or a specific self-driven projects and improvements.
  • The individual must be able to work through and resolve complex problems and convey the findings to teams throughout the company.
  • The individual must be able to adapt and improve existing processes to meet changing business circumstances.
  • The individual must be self-driven and take ownership of all tasks. The ability to work autonomously to tight deadlines is a requirement. The willingness to take a leadership role in different situations would also be beneficial.

This role may be suited to someone who has significant performance experience gained within a large asset management company dealing in multiple asset classes.

Desirable Qualifications

Degree in subject with high analytical content e.g. Maths/ Science /Economics
