Demystifying Data – An introduction to what’s happening on your door step

This session will help you to create a better understanding and awareness of what data trends exist and how it affects industry and each of us. The aim is to review the use of data as a whole and how it can be strategically be used in the next 5-10 years and show positive usages of data across companies and sectors.

Prof Michael Rovatsos, Director of the Bayes Centre at the University of Edinburgh will provide a high-level overview of the following topics:

  • what is data and how can and should we all be using it
  • Future of finance and banking – what are the trends/ disruptors
  • What can we learn from one another and how can we share
  • Data ethics- hot new topic with limited policies – can we as SIO help shape this
  • A case study will be presented to show how the industry is starting to work in this space and collaborating across the industry

We will finish up with an open forum – this will give you the opportunity to ask the question(s) that are important to you, so please come prepared and maximise this great opportunity with Prof. Rovatsos.
