Introduction to Investment Operations
Scottish Investment Operations' (SIO) runs the Introduction to Investment Operations training course in Scotland which covers the fundamentals of the financial markets, what investment companies do and how the different parts of the investment process interact. This 7 day course is aimed at people either looking to begin a career within our business or those already in the industry who are seeking to improve their knowledge and begin a path towards professional qualifications.
SIO is able to offer a number of funded places on the course to qualifying individuals who are not currently in education, training or employment. Funding for these places is provided by Skills Development Scotland. During the course candidates learn about the investment industry and have the chance to engage with leading employers which often leads towards a formal job interview. To apply for a funded place you must meet the following criteria:
Be a recent school or college leave, student or unemployed at the time of the course, have strong educational attainment and possess the following skills and requirements which are relevant for all roles in our business:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Work within a team and contribute to a team
- Analytical and problem-solving skills
- The capacity to work to strict deadlines
- High standards of numeracy and accuracy
- Able to accept responsibility and take ownership for own work
- PC literate
- Self-motivated and uses initiative
- Be able to attend the course on the dates and times noted
- Live and be eligible to work in the U.K. This means holding a current full time work permit/visabefore applying for a sponsored place.
- Be unable to fund own attendance on the course through own resources
The next course will run on September 9th, 10th and 13th to 17th in Edinburgh.
