What sort of training would you give me?
All employees receive comprehensive training when they arrive at a company - this is known as induction training. This will allow you to familiarise yourself with the company, different departments, processes and of course, how to do your job.
Employers also provide ongoing training to help you with your role and develop you as an individual. This often takes the form of on-the-job training and internal training courses. The investment industry rarely stands still so companies will ensure that you are equipped to handle changes in the marketplace, regulation or anything else that might be relevant to your role.
It is very likely that you will also study towards a professional qualification within one of several key areas. Companies typically fund professional study and provide learning support:
- Fund management
- Securities
- Accounting
You can research the leading qualifications in each of these areas at the training area of our website. Employers also support qualifications in many other areas. The general theme is that it should be relevant to your role. If in HR for example, you will likely be supported through the benchmark qualifications for that area offered by the CIPD.
