SIO Forum: Roundtable Lunch

Our June meeting will begin with a sandwich lunch and networking before we break into facilitated round table discussions on some of the key challenges facing operations professionals in the industry.

During the year to date we have listened closely to feedback from you on the issues you are facing and the topics below represent the views you provided. We will therefore focus on the following themes:

  • Offshoring, Robin Blythe (Head of Trade Management & Treasury, BNP Paribas) will lead a discussion covering challenges faced when managing offshored operations and how to get ongoing value from existing relationships
  • Robotics, Graham Carmichael (Senior Manager Risk Advisory, Deloitte) will explore how operations functions are starting to use advanced automation techniques to improve efficiency and reduce risk without large scale IT development
  • General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), Tom Pulling (Data Analytics & Assurance Lead, PwC) will look at the latest challenges posed by this regulation from an operations perspective
  • MiFID II Client Assets (CASS), Ian Stuart (Head of UK CASS) and Sam Seabrook (Programme Manager) both of Morgan Stanley will discuss requirements and implementation challenges

Whilst each table will have a facilitator, it is very much a roundtable discussion and our hope is to enable you to move around 3-4 tables during the time we have. Best practice and sharing are at the core of the SIO Forum and as ever, our conversations will take place under Chatham House rules - nothing you choose to share is reported on or attributed.

We are grateful to Morgan Stanley for hosting us and look forward to seeing you on the 29th.
