Training

The SII Diploma is the highest level of attainment, enabling candidates to specialise in areas relevant to their chosen career path. The Diploma is a globally recognised qualification that is available around the world. The examinations reflect situations and issues that practitioners will encounter and require students to apply their knowledge to answer case studies, write reports and explain techniques and terms.

Candidates choose three modules relating to their primary activities or interests (unless they hold a qualification which entitles them to an exemption, when they select two modules). Each module provides a high level of knowledge and understanding on the subject together with an ability to use it in a practical manner. The full list of Diploma modules is below:

  • Bond and Fixed Interest Markets
  • Corporate Finance
  • Financial Derivatives
  • Fund Management
  • Global Operations Management
  • Interpretation of Financial Statements
  • Investment Analysis
  • Management Studies
  • Private Client Investment Advice and Management
  • Regulation and Compliance

The SII’s new Masters programme in Wealth Management will be the first career pathway to be launched as part of the SII Masters Programme (SIIM). Developed in conjunction with leading industry practitioners and APCIMS members, the new programme will be the SII’s flagship qualification and lies at the very heart of the Institute’s activities – Private Client Wealth Management. The programme represents an evolution of the existing SII Diploma for Wealth Managers, Private Client Managers and IFAs, and has allowed the SII to blend together aspects from existing Diploma modules into a package that offers Wealth Management firms and practitioners a dedicated professional qualification.
